Tax Senior- Real Estate

 Location: Atlanta, Georgia


  Hudson RPO has an opportunity for a Tax Senior – Real Estate, for one of the largest CPA firms in the United States. The successful candidate will be working as part of a team and utilizing resources to add value to clients. The Tax Senior - Real Estate is responsible for the preparation of complex tax compliance engagements and will often lead and train Staff on basic engagements and perform a detailed first-review on those projects.


The Tax Senior will plan, execute, and complete various tax compliance and consulting engagements for public and private clients within commercial and real estate industries. International/REIT Tax Specialist. Prepare/review complex foreign and REIT tax returns along with consolidated C Corporation, S corporation, partnership, and individual tax returns; Consult with clients on tax planning and compliance projects within pension, private equity, timber, real estate, and commercial markets; Prepare complex tax provision schedules and work papers;

Conduct quarterly and annual REIT tests;

Assist in preparation of tax forms including

Forms 1042-S, 1042-T, 1042, 5472, 1116, 5471, FinCEN 114, 8938, 1120-F, 1120-REIT, 8865, 8612, and 2438;

Conduct rigorous tax, interest, and penalty calculations for projections and estimates by legal entity; Research and analyze tax laws, court cases, and rules and regulations for proper tax application to client specific situations.

Technical Skills

  • Accurately prepares complex partnership, S Corporation and individual tax returns
  • Develops an understanding of IRC sections 1445 (FIRPTA) and 1446 along with related tax forms (1042, 8804, 8805)
  • Develops a working knowledge of partnership taxation including book-ups under §704(b) and step-ups under §754
  • Efficiently reviews tax returns from Staff as a first reviewer
  • Prepares and reviews income tax projections and estimate calculations
  • Accurately performs research and writes technical memorandum in a readable format
  • Researches and prepares work papers for various book to tax differences
  • Identifies area of specialization and is continuously refining skills, knowledge and expertise

  • Master’s Degree required
  • 2+ years of tax experience is required
  • Knowledge of partnership tax law and principles of individual and business taxation is required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong commitment to professional and client service excellence
  • Proven time management, organizational and prioritization skills
  • Actively studying and preparing for the CPA certification

  • Must have two years' experience as a tax associate or principal with a public
  • accounting firm
  • Must have experience in tax compliance and consulting with Private Equity, REIT
  • and Real Estate clients
  • A criminal background check will be required on applicants
